A Word or Two
Originally from the Chicago area, I moved up to Milwaukee to attend school. I have been in the advertising and design industry since September of 1999.
In September of '99 I landed my first job designing trade show exhibits. There I learned the importance of how space and the environment can be affected by design. Something that has helped me in understanding the space of not only environments, but also in print and the web.
After three years, I left the trade show industry and took a position as art director for Stephens Trzinski Advertising, now better known as Platypus Advertising + Design.
At Platypus, I was able to really focus on my skills not only as a designer, but as a critical thinker. Ultimately developing the best solution for our clients. I've worked with recreational clients like Noah's Ark Waterpark to Fortune 500 companies like Johnson Controls and BorgWarner.
The projects I have worked on have challenged me in every aspect of design. From creating flash animated annual reports to creating a giant snake eye in Photoshop to brand identities.
I also keep busy doing freelance work. Designing promotional material, web sites, logos and other miscellaneous materials for local clients such as Sake-Tumi, Luna Cafe + Lounge and Adrian Serrano Combat Sports Gym.
All work and no play makes Tim a dull boy though. In my free time, I enjoy trying to keep in a shape other than spherical. I train mixed martial arts as well as teach kids jiu jitsu and kickboxing. I also compete in 5k's and half marathons. From time to time you might find me in the kitchen trying to burn water. AT least I'm not burning running kids.
Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings.
