Moleskine, the beloved brand of every artist, designer, writer and hipster decided they wanted a new logo for there online community, Moleskinerie. You’ve seen them. The little black books with a little elastic band that holds it shut. Go to any local coffee shop and you can find someone with one. They were used by great creatives, such as Oscar Wilde, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway and Vincent van Gogh. They have an allure about them that people enjoy.
Recognizing their community is full of talented creatives, they decided to open up a design contest on designboom.com, a web site that helps run crowdsource contests like these. Seems pretty harmless. Right?

There I said it. I hear too many people saying it is these days in seminars, blog posts, etc. This frightens me because businesses are listening to these snake oil salespeople.
Social Media gives your brand a voice, but so does your website, your brochures, your email campaigns and even the way you answer your phones. It is the culmination of these things that reinforce your brand. There seems to be an influx of social media “experts” out there trying to validate themselves by saying traditional media, including your website, are essentially useless.

Because I’m feeling the urge to redesign my site which hasn’t even looked like this for a year yet, I’m going to “evolve” the site. I thought I’d share by to-do list for it.
